480. Colonel Robert FORTESCUE of Wear Gifford^{(551) (552)} was born in 1617. He was baptised on 14 Sep 1617 in Petrockstowe. He died about 1675/76. He signed a will on 12 Jan 1675/76. He had an estate probated on 5 Jan 1676/77 in P.C.C. (Bence 112). Colonel Robert Fortescue succeeded to his father's estates since his
older brother John died young. Robert had no male issue. His wife
Susannah was pregnant when he died, but the issue was a daughter. So
Arthur of Penwarne, his next brother, succeeded to the estates, namely
those in Devon, Somerset, Gloucestershire, and Wiltshire.

He was married to Grace GRENVILLE (daughter of Sir Bevill GRENVILLE of Stowe) on 20 Feb 1644/45 in Kilkhampton. Colonel Robert FORTESCUE of Wear Gifford and Grace GRENVILLE had the following children:

He was married to Susannah NORTHCOTE (daughter of Sir John NORTHCOTE) in 1652. Colonel Robert FORTESCUE of Wear Gifford and Susannah NORTHCOTE had the following children:

545 ii. Susanna FORTESCUE^{(553) (554)} was born about 1661. She was baptised on 23 Mar 1661/62 in Newton St Cyres. Died young
546 iii. Robert FORTESCUE⁽⁵⁵⁵⁾ was born about 1663. He was baptised on 21 Aug 1663 in Newton St Cyres. He was buried on 18 Sep 1663 in Newton St Cyres.
547 iv. Jane FORTESCUE⁽⁵⁵⁶⁾ was born about 1664. She was baptised on 20 Dec 1664 in Newton St Cyres. Died young
